His research focuses on all aspects of enterprise network design, including network technologies, vendors and strategies. A key focus for Mr. Fabbi's research is to advise clients on improving application performance using emerging and innovative network technologies. In addition, Mr. Fabbi's research covers both physical and logical networking technologies for emerging IP data center optimization. Mr. Fabbi is also Gartner's lead analyst on Cisco.

He is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and execution of marketing activities as well as leading the global ProCurve sales team. Since joining HP in 1983, Thompson has held positions as support engineer, product manager, product marketing manager, engineering project and section manager and strategic relations manager for HP's relationship with Novell. His previous technology focuses at HP have included HP desktop PCs and HP network servers.
